[SkyRun]

Christmas math: the advance-purchase deals count back from your arrival day, not from a fixed date. Vail's 46-day rule means booking by Nov 9 for a Dec 25 arrival (and it needs a 6-night stay); the 30-day rule at Breckenridge and Keystone means booking by Nov 25 for Dec 25 (Breckenridge also needs 7 nights). Presidents' week works the same way: count 30 or 46 days back from your arrival. [Vail] [Breckenridge] [Keystone]

Pass first or lodging first?

Pass first if it's an Epic Pass: Vail Resorts confirmed prices go up after Nov 15, 2026. POWDER reported on Oct 13 that sales end Dec 6; Vail hasn't confirmed that date. Breckenridge and Keystone lodging deals also add an extra 20% off for pass holders. Ikon told POWDER there's no further increase before sales stop. [Vail Resorts] [POWDER] [Breckenridge]

Colorado ski lodging FAQ

Where is the cheapest place to stay for Breckenridge and Keystone?
Look at Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne, the Summit County towns on I-70. They're linked to Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper and A-Basin by the free Summit Stage and Bus to Ski service. Prices change daily, so compare them on a map for your dates rather than trusting a 'cheapest town' list. [Summit County]
Is it cheaper to stay in Avon or Edwards instead of Vail?
Usually that's the reason people do it, but compare your dates. Avon is 8 miles west of Vail at the foot of Beaver Creek, and Edwards is 15 miles west. Core Transit's Highway 6 route links Edwards, Avon and Vail and is fare-free, and Vail's town buses are free. [Vail Valley] [Edwards] [Core Transit] [Town of Vail]
Fraser or Granby vs Winter Park: where should I stay?
Fraser if you want the bus: it's 5 miles from Winter Park Resort and on The Lift's free Black Line in winter. Granby is about 15 miles past Fraser and is the base for Granby Ranch; The Lift lists Granby too, but a car is simpler. [Town of Fraser] [The Lift]
Where can I stay for less near Aspen Snowmass?
Basalt, 18 miles from Aspen, plus El Jebel and Carbondale farther down-valley. RFTA buses connect them: Basalt or El Jebel to Aspen is $3 and Carbondale is $4. Riding between Aspen, Snowmass Village and Brush Creek Park and Ride is free because they're in one zone. [Basalt Chamber] [RFTA]
Where should I stay for Copper Mountain?
Frisco. Copper is 7 miles west of Frisco, and the free Summit Stage Copper/Frisco route runs between them; the last bus leaves Frisco at 12:30am. Copper's own lodging has a 50% off second night deal for stays Nov 5, 2026 to Apr 25, 2027. [Copper] [Summit Stage] [Copper offers]
Is staying in Denver and driving to ski a mistake?
For one midweek day trip to Loveland, A-Basin or Winter Park, it can work. For weekends and multi-day trips it usually costs you hours on I-70 each way, plus fuel and parking. Check COtrip for live road conditions before you commit. COtrip
Which Colorado resorts have advance-purchase lodging discounts in 2026-27?
Breckenridge and Keystone take up to 30% off lodging booked 30 or more days ahead (Breckenridge needs 7 nights), and Vail takes up to 20% off when you book 46 or more days ahead for 6 nights. All three are non-refundable and run Nov 20, 2026 to Apr 30, 2027. [Breckenridge] [Keystone] [Vail]
When should I book Christmas or Presidents' week ski lodging?
Count back from your arrival day. For a Dec 25 arrival, Vail's 46-day advance deal means booking by Nov 9, and Breckenridge or Keystone's 30-day deal means booking by Nov 25. Winter Park's two deals exclude Dec 26 to Jan 3. [Vail] [Breckenridge] [Winter Park]
Are the early-booking lodging deals refundable?
The Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail advance-purchase deals are non-refundable. Winter Park's Best Value and Early Bird bookings made before Nov 30 can be changed or cancelled up to 7 days before arrival. For other deals, read the terms on the official page before you pay. [Vail] [Winter Park]
Do I need a car if I stay in Frisco, Avon or Fraser?
Not for skiing. Summit Stage is free from Frisco, Core Transit's Highway 6 route and the Vail/Beaver Creek Express are fare-free from Avon, and The Lift is free from Fraser. A car still helps for groceries, late nights and Granby. [Summit Stage] [Core Transit] [The Lift]
Is there a free bus from Silverthorne or Dillon to Keystone and Breck?
Yes. Summit Stage is free and runs a Silverthorne-Keystone route, a Silverthorne/Frisco route that connects to the Breckenridge/Frisco route, and the X Flyer and Swan Mountain Flyer. The winter schedule runs Nov 15, 2026 to Apr 17, 2027. [Summit Stage]
Should I buy my pass before booking lodging?
If you're buying an Epic Pass, yes: Vail Resorts confirmed prices go up after Nov 15, 2026. Breckenridge and Keystone lodging deals also add an extra 20% off for pass holders. Ikon told POWDER there's no further increase before sales stop. [Vail Resorts] [Breckenridge] [POWDER]
