Privacy
Last updated October 2026.
Skier Stash (skierstash.com) is a free website about ski deadlines, opening days and hut lotteries. There are no accounts or logins here. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site and the services it uses collect, and how to opt out.
The short version
- We don't sell your personal information for money.
- If you sign up for the newsletter, Beehiiv (our newsletter service) stores your email address and how you found us.
- We may use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. It never loads if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or if you turn it off below.
- Lodging maps (Stay22) and affiliate links can set their own cookies so the partner can credit us if you book or buy.
Newsletter (Beehiiv)
The signup form on each page is provided by Beehiiv. When you subscribe, Beehiiv stores your email address and signup details, including the page you signed up on and where you came from (for example "reddit" or "facebook", or the utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign tags in a link). Beehiiv's form script also sets cookies on this site to remember that information (bhv_attribution, up to 30 days) and to remember that you've subscribed. Beehiiv's own privacy policy covers how it handles that data.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to be removed or to have your subscriber record deleted.
How we track where visitors come from
To know which posts and ads actually bring in readers, the site saves where you first arrived from (a link's utm tags, or the website that sent you, such as Reddit, X, Facebook or Google) in your browser's local storage under the name ss_src for up to 30 days. It's passed to Beehiiv only if you sign up. It isn't sent anywhere else, and you can clear it by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Hosting and analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver and protect the site. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views; Cloudflare describes it as not using cookies or tracking individual visitors across sites.
Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram ads)
The Meta Pixel isn't switched on yet. We plan to turn it on to measure ads we run on Facebook and Instagram, and this section describes exactly what it will do.
- It records two events: a page view on each page, and a signup event when someone subscribes to the newsletter (labeled with the signup source above).
- We don't send your email address, name or any other contact details to Meta. Advanced matching is off.
- Meta may use its own cookies and the information its pixel collects (such as your IP address, browser and the page you're on) under Meta's privacy policy, including to measure and target ads.
- It does not load at all if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, or if you use the opt-out button in the Do Not Sell or Share section.
Lodging maps (Stay22)
Many pages include a map of places to stay, provided by Stay22. The map loads from Stay22's servers, so Stay22 receives standard request data, and Stay22 and the booking sites it links to may set cookies. If you book through the map, we may earn a commission. See How we make money.
Affiliate links
Some links to retailers or services are affiliate links run through networks such as Impact, CJ, Rakuten or Awin. When you click one, the network or retailer may set a cookie so a purchase can be credited to us. We see reports of clicks and commissions, not your name, address or payment details. It never costs you more.
How to opt out
- Browser settings: block third-party cookies, clear cookies and site data, or use a private window. Turning on Global Privacy Control (supported by browsers such as Firefox, Brave and DuckDuckGo, or via an extension) stops the Meta Pixel here automatically.
- Meta ad settings: manage how Meta uses your activity in your Facebook or Instagram Ad preferences (Accounts Center).
- Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email us.
- This site: the button below turns off the Meta Pixel on this browser.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We don't sell personal information for money. Some state privacy laws, including California's, treat ad measurement tools like the Meta Pixel as "sharing" personal information for advertising. You can opt out of that here:
- We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track: if your browser sends either signal, the Meta Pixel isn't loaded.
- Or use this button to turn it off on this browser (it's saved in your browser's local storage, so repeat it on each browser or device you use):
Checking this browser…
You can also email [email protected] with "Do Not Sell or Share" in the subject. We don't upload subscriber email lists to Meta or any other ad platform.
Your requests
To ask what we have about you, to correct it or to delete it, email [email protected]. The only personal data we hold is the newsletter subscriber record in Beehiiv.
Children
Skier Stash is meant for adults planning ski trips and isn't directed at children under 13.
