How the lottery works
- Be a member. Membership is required; you can buy or renew it while entering.
- Enter once. One entry per member. List as many trip options as you want, in order of preference.
- Random draw. Entries are shuffled by a certified random number generator. Staff then go through them in order and book the first option on your list that's still open.
- Get charged or get a "sorry". If a trip is booked, your card is charged and you get a confirmation email. Regular cancellation rules apply, so only list trips you can actually do.
- Groups use the best number. In a group entry, the member with the lowest draw number gets the group's form processed. Everyone's list must match exactly.

Tips from 10th Mountain
- Weekends and holidays from mid-January to mid-March go first. Add weekdays as backups.
- Sunday-Tuesday trips (Sunday and Monday nights) get you some weekend and much better odds.
- Huts closest to Denver and the Front Range are the most popular. Roaring Fork Valley huts are less so.
- Asking for a few spaces instead of the whole hut helps a lot.
- Make sure your card won't expire before the end of March.

Do I need to be a member to enter?
Yes. You need a current 10th Mountain Division Hut Association membership, and you can buy or renew it while you enter. [huts.org FAQ]
What are my odds?
Last cycle: 2,488 entries and 85% of members got a trip. Groups did better (87% of groups) than individual entries (64%). [huts.org recap]
How many trips can I win?
One entry per member and one trip itinerary per entry. That itinerary can be several nights, several huts and several people. [huts.org FAQ]
What if I don't get a trip?
Members can book from what's left starting April 1 at 8am MT (regular members up to 3 trips total). The public can book from June 1 at 8am MT. [huts.org recap]
Which huts aren't in the lottery?
